What are the primary distinctions between AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT in terms of features and functionality?
Functionality and Features
AutoCAD: AutoCAD is the full-featured version of the software. It offers a wide range of 2D and 3D design and drafting tools. You can create complex 3D models, work with parametric constraints, and use a variety of customization options. AutoCAD is suitable for a broad range of design and engineering tasks, including architectural, mechanical, and electrical design.
AutoCAD LT : AutoCAD LT (LT stands for “Lite”) is a more streamlined version of AutoCAD. It is primarily a 2D drafting and documentation software with limited 3D capabilities. AutoCAD LT provides essential drafting tools and is designed for 2D drawing, making it more suitable for those who don’t require advanced 3D modeling features.
Price
AutoCAD: AutoCAD is more expensive than AutoCAD LT. It typically involves a higher upfront cost and may require a subscription-based pricing model. However, it offers a broader range of features, which can justify the higher cost for professionals who need advanced capabilities.
AutoCAD LT: AutoCAD LT is a more budget-friendly option. It is typically priced lower than the full version of AutoCAD, making it a cost-effective choice for individuals or small businesses that primarily require 2D drafting and don’t need the advanced features of AutoCAD.
Customization
AutoCAD: AutoCAD offers extensive customization options through AutoLISP and other programming languages. Users can create custom scripts, add-ons, and automation tools to tailor the software to their specific needs.
AutoCAD LT: AutoCAD LT has limited customization options compared to AutoCAD. You can customize some aspects of the software, but it lacks the full extensibility provided by AutoCAD.

This downloaded easily and is exactly what I needed. I actually paid extra for the older (2014) version than the new 2015 because all the reviews said the ‘classic view’ was gone in 2015. I have since worked on 2015 and the graphics are actually much easier on the eyes if you are drawing for a long time. Lots of great new features that save time.

I found the program easy to load onto my computer. It was also easy to register. The PC program works well on a PC. I did not like that when my registration info came, there was info about my computer listed that I had not entered. Found that a little invasive.

Does just about anything you need to do at a fraction of the cost of the full version. Most importantly to gimmicks with the yearly subscription

I only use AutoCAD for my personal designing of our homes. The last one I did was using AutoCAD LT 97 (yes from 1997). While this old version did most of what I needed, it would not allow me to download blocks of fixtures, etc. from the web and place them in my drawings. I was pleased to find 2014 opened my drawings from 97 with no problems. The new features in 2014 really simplify a number of tasks and allow me to open various files from the web. I was also able to open the lot drawings provided by the county to verify the area, etc.
